Support your community by giving to United Way

Plymouth Connection

Dear Friends,

Picture this - Jamie gets a free book at a local fair.  While he enjoys his new book, his mother speaks to a local educator who reminds her to sign up Jamie for preschool this coming fall.  While at this local preschool program, Jamie’s parents are given access to a myriad of local services, including United Way’s free tax site.  While getting their taxes done for free, this young hard-working couple signs up for the one-on-one Financial Coaching Program to help them increase their savings and decrease their debt.  While meeting with their financial coach, they are given a FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card, which allows them to save money on the cost of Jamie’s prescriptions.  Jamie starts to grow and thrive, as he gets prepared for kindergarten and has access to the healthcare that he needs.  Jamie’s parents start to make a better life for themselves as they start to save more money and feel more confident in their financial knowledge.

What started with a free book ended with a family thriving.  It didn’t happen through charity but through change.  And United Way supports each of these change efforts and so many more throughout our community.   There are thousands of stories like this one that all start with United Way.  Because great things happen when we Live United.

We’d like to take this opportunity to ask you to support the United Way of West Central Connecticut by making a donation.  Simply go to www.uwwestcentralct.org/donate to find out how.  Donors and volunteers are essential to United Way’s work - change can’t happen without you!

We are well on our way toward being a healthier, happier community, all because United Way is focused on fundamental change, not charity. United Way brings together people with the passion, expertise and resources needed to get these jobs done.

But it isn’t easy, and there is so much more to do. You can make a difference by giving to United Way today.  Your contribution will support the building blocks of better lives and stronger communities: a quality education that leads to a stable job; enough income to support a family through retirement; and good health.

By supporting United Way, you are supporting YOUR community. So join with us. Because great things happen when we Live United!

Sincerely,
