“Let’s Find Our Seniors” Project
The United of West Central Connecticut is working on an exciting project for seniors in the Bristol community! “Let’s Find Our Seniors” is a grass roots effort to get information to the senior community about the services that are available to them.
United Way will send out teams of volunteers to blanket the Bristol community on several days this spring to place informational door hangers on homes, apartments and condominiums. These door hangers will have information about services available to seniors, in an effort to connect to isolated older adults and provide help to senior caregivers.
The United Way of West Central Connecticut is committed to ensuring that all seniors who are eligible for services are receiving them. This project falls within United Way’s Health Initiative, where the goal is to improve people’s health and wellness. United Way is collaborating with community partners to extend the time adults (60 and older) can stay in their living environments by reducing isolation and/or providing supportive services.
United Way is looking for volunteers to walk and distribute these door hangers in local neighborhoods. Any amount of time you can give would be appreciated! Volunteers are needed on the following days:
- Friday, May 21st (United Way’s Day of Caring)
- Saturday, May 22nd
- Monday, June 21st (United Way’s Day of Action)
Please call Mary Lynn Gagnon at United Way (860) 582-9559 for more information or to sign up.
