Parent leadership training opportunities beginning soon!

The Plymouth Connection

The United Way of West Central Connecticut, in partnership with the Connecticut Center for School Change, Connecticut Commission on Children, and the University of Connecticut has received funding for Parent Leadership Initiatives; including the Parents Supporting Educational Excellence (Parents SEE) Program in Bristol and the Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) and People Empowering People (PEP) in Plymouth. All interested parents, grandparents, guardians and others are invited to participate in these three exciting FREE parent engagement, civic leadership opportunities.

 

If you are interested in becoming part of a statewide initiative of parent leaders, and have a desire to impact your community and your child’s education, we invite you to learn more about Parents SEE, PLTI or PEP:

 

Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) begins October 18th!

PLTI is a free 20 week program designed to help parents and other caring adults learn how to advocate for children, and will be offered in Plymouth. The Parent Leadership Training Institute will begin with a Saturday retreat on October 18th and classes will meet once weekly on Monday evenings from 5:35 to 9:00 pm. Dinner will be served and classes will be facilitated by certified facilitators from the State of CT Commission on Children. Limited on-site childcare will be provided. Parents Supporting Education Excellence (Parents SEE)

Parents SEE is a free 12 week, parent leadership program for those who want to increase involvement and understanding of the educational experience of our children and how best to advocate and support their success. Parents SEE will be offered in Bristol. Parents Supporting Educational

Excellence will begin with a Saturday retreat in October and classes will meet once weekly from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Dinner will be served, and classes will be facilitated by certified instructors from the Connecticut Center for School Change. Limited on-site child care will be provided.

 

People Empowering People (PEP)

PEP is a free 10 week program with a strong community focus encouraging growth in communication and problem solving skills, parent/family relationships and community involvement.
